I am Dr. Neelima Garg, a horticultural scientist, microbiologist, author, trainer and consultant with over 34 years of experience in post-harvest management, food processing, microbial biotechnology, value addition, and sustainable agriculture.
During my career at the ICAR–Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (ICAR-CISH), Lucknow, I served as Acting Director and Head, Division of Post-Harvest Management, where I led research, technology development, capacity building, and technology transfer programmes that benefited farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and institutions.
I earned my M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Microbiology from Haryana Agricultural University in 1987. My research has focused on developing practical, science-based solutions in horticultural processing, microbial biotechnology, fermentation, waste valorization, functional foods, soil health, and sustainable agriculture.
Over the years, I have developed innovative technologies for fruit processing, functional beverages, fermentation, microbial products, value addition, and utilization of horticultural waste. These technologies have supported entrepreneurship development, income generation, sustainable farming, and commercialization of agricultural innovations.
Today, I offer consultancy, technical guidance, and customized training to individuals, startups, farmer producer organizations (FPOs), self-help groups (SHGs), educational institutions, research organizations, government agencies, and agribusinesses in the following areas:

In addition to consultancy, I am an author of books and scientific publications on post-harvest technology, food microbiology, probiotics, intellectual property rights, microbial biotechnology, and sustainable agriculture. My work has been recognized through several national and international honours, including the Dr. J. S. Pruthi Award, Kejriwal Award, ICN International Award in Agriculture, LMA Outstanding Woman Achiever Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Horticulture Research and Development.
My mission is to transform scientific knowledge into practical, sustainable solutions that help farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and organizations enhance productivity, create value-added products, commercialize innovations, and contribute to agricultural and rural development.
